Trick or Treat

Tonight was my first Halloween as an adult. Now that I have my own house it is my turn to be on the giving end of the Halloween tradition. Tonight I stayed at home and passed out candy to an endless supply of trick or treaters. Since we are new in the neighborhood I wasn't sure how many kids we'd actually get tonight but it's a good thing we bought 7 giant bags of candy! Our neighborhood is pretty much a gated community so being new in town didn't effect the masses of sugar crazed children. I sat in the living room and waited for the ghosts, ninja turtles, buzz light years, and princesses to come. Baxter helped to by alerting me of the presence of strangers at the door. He also stood guard and enjoyed the endless attention he was getting because he is a cute kitty after all. It was fun to be on the giving end of the Halloween tradition. We decorated the front yard with spider webs, graves, and bones to make our house extra spooky!

Don't You Just Love A bargain

So this weekend was full of unexpected and very welcome bargains that came my way. It all started on Friday when I went out to dinner. We went to Outback and I order the Cyclone Pasta. The pasta contained chicken, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, and various other ingredients in cream sauce. I started eating my meal and then realized it was missing something but couldn't put my finger on it. Then I realized exactly what I was missing...The CHICKEN. I mean it was only the most important part of the meal. I mentioned it to our waitress and viola my meal was free! I really just wanted the chicken not a free meal but I'll take it. Then on Saturday at kickboxing class our instructor told us our 6 weeks was almost over. I asked her about the fee for continuing on. She explained that normally you had join and it was a membership but the fit club we originally joined would begin again in Jan. Then she said but I could work out a fee if you only wanted to resume Saturday class and not utilize the other class times. Perfect! I some how managed to knock a few hundred bucks off a membership in minutes and got the whole class a bargain! But today took the cake. Today was the first day that Anthony and I have had in a long time that required us to do nothing. We did homework all day then decided to give ourselves a mall break. We had to do some shopping for Anthony's mother's 50th birthday. We got some great deals including 50% off the gifts which turned into larger savings due to their error. Then when buying cds we got one free out of no where. But what really took the cake.....was dinner. We decided to go to Olive Garden for dinner even though I already took out chicken and planned our dinner. Well Anthony was eating his salad and found a dead fly trapped in his lettuce. (GASP) He brought it to the attention of our waitress and viola free dinner again. I mean a free dinner for both of us including dessert. A four course meal for zero dollars. To think we weren't eve going to leave the house! It was a good weekend to say the least.

Just Give Me a Mud Hut

So remember when I talked about how I am ALWAYS losing power? Well today something new happened. We lost water. Yes WATER! Losing power is bad but losing water is worse. I feel like I live in a third world country. At least the people you see on TV have a stream that runs through their village. I mean who cares if it's invested with malaria. Actually we do have a lake that's polluted so you could rank us right up there with the common villager. The only thing I am lacking is the mud hut instead of the plush, water-less, power-less condo in which I live. Feel free to send us 10 cents a day that's all it will take to sponsor us. On that money we can eat, get badly needed medical attention, and an education. In return you will receive letters and pictures from us.

Magic Number 40

Last night after another long boring High Tech Crimes class I came home to a wonderful surprise. When I got home there were 40 roses on my pillow. That's right 40! There were so many I had to put them in two different vases. I don't think I've ever gotten that many roses at one time. I was so excited but a little skeptical because that type of gift warrants something. After questioning the motive behind the roses I realize that I am just lucky enough to have a wonderful boyfriend.

In the Dark

So I haven't updated in forever but that's because my life is so absolutely crazy. School hasn't changed it's still as overwhelming as usual. I'm still taking my online classes and my regular weekly trip to Newport. Nothing has changed on the school side of things.
I finally corrected the stolen check fiasco. I had to go to the bank and close out my old account and open a new one. For the last week I haven't had any checks, debit card, or ATM card. That has been less than amusing. I guess it hasn't been all that bad because I haven't been able to spend any money randomly like I usually do. There were plenty of times when I thought oh I'll just throw it on my card but......Wait there was no card to swipe. I still don't have my debit card but I did get my checks this weekend.
In the last few days I've lost power at my house 4 times. Yes 4 times. If the wind blows the wrong way the lights go out. I guess that's one of the perks of living in the woods. You would think the electric company would figure out a way to stop the outages. It might save them some time and money. But until the do I'll be playing Helen Keller around the house. The lights always go out at just the right times like when I'm in the shower, doing laundry, cooking or about to cook, and doing pretty much anything that involves the use of power.
Other than that nothing too exciting has happened in the past week or so.

Who Would Have Thought

We'll it's official I'm a Yankees fan. I fought and fought the need to be a fan of any type of sport. I couldn't imagine watching a sport on television and yelling at the TV as men ran around sweating and hitting each other's asses. I would say I was a Yankees fan before because Anthony was one. We'll now it has become official and this is how I know:

- I watch the games with or without Anthony
- I have a favorite Player
- I know all of the players and which positions they play
- I yell at the television and curse when things don't go my way
- I am proudly state I am a Yankees fan who needs the Red Sox
- I've requested a Matsui t-shirt for Christmas (I better get one)
- I've come up with my own catchy slogans for players (no matter how inappropriate they may
be)

Those are just a few of the reasons how I know that it has become official. I'm actually blowing off homework right now to watch the game. I would have never thought it would happen but alas I am a YANKEES FAN.

I spoke too soon

So when I wrote last I talked about how un-exciting my life has been lately. Well that all changed yesterday. My car taxes for the town were due sept 15 and like any respectable person I sent them into the town on the 12th. Well I noticed the other day that they still had not cashed the check so I call the town to see why they did not want my money. The tax collector politely informed me that their safe had been stolen and my check was in it. Yes stolen! I was shocked that no one felt the need to contact me to let me know a thief had all of my personal info in their possession. I had to call my bank to put a stop payment on the check so it wouldn't be cashed. The nice lady at the bank informed me I should close out my account all together because the thief had way too much info on me. Isn't that lovely. I guess I shouldn't wish excitement on myself.

Catching Up

So it's been a long time since I've caught up on my blogging responsibility. It drives me nut when others don't catch up on theirs so I shouldn't shirk mine. School has been absolutely nuts. I can't believe how much work is piling up and here I am ignoring it. (oops)
I only have one actual class all the others are online. The class I go to at school taught by the "dry eyes" guy. It sounded interested but alas I am bored to tears. Apparently is everyone else because on our 15 minute breaks we all bitch about it. My favorite thing is all our professor says before he teaches something is "don't worry you won't be tested on this." He's said this about EVERYTHING he teaches. What exactly will we be tested on?!
Now on to my everyday life. Jenna brought my beautiful God-Daughter Bria to see me today. She is getting so big and giggley. She is all smiles and laughs. Other than that my life is meaningless. (JK) Anthony and I are doing well and still participating in kickboxing until I drop dead. No other big news to report.
